Health Benefits

Antioxidants Protect against free radical oxidation, which can cause signs of aging and tissue damage.
Antioxidant Greens Blend (organic) Organic spirulina is one of the world’s most nutritious foods, containing over 60% protein including the nine essential amino acids that humans cannot produce on their own and must obtain from food.  Furthermore, the protein cell walls of spirulina are easy for the human digestive system to break down, which makes the nutrients more bioavailable. Spirulina has high amounts of beta-carotene, mixed carotenoids, small amounts of the entire B-complex vitamins (including B-12), and trace minerals, plus 5% essential fatty acids. Spirulina also boosts immunity. Organic alfalfa contains trace minerals and is high in vitamin C and calcium.  The nutrients are easy to assimilate, making it a valuable and digestible source of nourishment
Bromelain A proteolytic enzyme derived from pineapple, shown to speed healing time and reduce pain following surgery and injuries. It has anti-inflammatory activity.
Deglycyrrhized Licorice Long been used to help maintain normal, healthy gastro intestinal function. Licorice extracts that are not deglycyrrhized contain glycyrrhiza, which can elevate blood pressure due to it's corticosteroid like activity or enhancement of the body's own corticosteriods. Deglycyrrhized licorice does not have this effect, but still has the other positive effects of licorice.
Enzymes (Plant-source) Reintroduce the naturally occurring enzymes found in raw foods into the dog’s diet to contribute to optimal digestion and nutrient utilization
Flaxseed
(Forti-Flax® organic)
Fortiflax® is a blend of freshly cold-milled 100% organic, pesticide and herbicide free flax seeds manufactured by Barlean’s Organic Oils. Flaxseed oil is a rich source of fatty acids. It is considered one of the richest food sources of ALA. The health benefits associated with ALA consumption include cardiovascular effects, neuro-protection, a counter to the inflammation response, and benefits against autoimmune disease. In addition to omega fatty acids, flax provides, lignans, dietary fiber, essential amino acids, vitamins, and minerals.
Food Base Superfoods provide a rich source of antioxidants and both macronutrients and micronutrients to support overall health and energy. Organic alfalfa, organic spirulina, organic barley grass, organic parsley, spinach, yogurt powder, and organic brown rice make up this well-rounded and nutritious food base.
Fresh-Catch Fish Oil
(cod liver)
Pristine source of molecularly distilled fish oil providing naturally occurring well-balanced levels of EPA, DHA and small amounts of naturally occurring vitamins A and D. The fresh-catch processing technology ensures the oil is free from the damaging effects of heat, light and oxygen. This purified cod liver oil is derived from 100% Icelandic Cod harvested in the deep, cold and crystal clear waters of Norway.
Ginger Helps alleviate symptoms from a wide variety of digestive ailments.  Ginger has been used in Chinese medicine as a digestive aid for thousands of years.  It is helpful for nausea, diarrhea and stomach aches. Studies have documented the antiemetic effects of ginger extract in vivo in dogs. Ginger acts directly on the GI tract by increasing gastric motility and promoting adsorption of toxins and acids.
Glucosamine HCl
(from shellfish)
Plays a role in the promotion and maintenance of the structure and function of cartilage in joints. It also has anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties.
Green Lipped Mussel Shell Provides naturally occurring chondroitin sulfate, a major component of cartilage matrix and synovial fluid. In addition to its unique ability to promote joint health, Green-Lipped Mussel Powder contains several ingredients including anti-inflammatory long-chain omega 3 fatty acids, glutamine, antioxidants to maintain the body's natural defense system, and minerals for joint health.
Meadowsweet Contains salicylic acid, which was first isolated from its flowerbuds in the 1830’s. In fact, aspirin gets its name from meadowsweet. The pharmaceutical name for aspirin is “acetylsalicylic acid”: the “a” in aspirin from acetyl and the “spirin” from its name at the time; Spirae. Unlike aspirin, however, the herb meadowsweet is soothing to the stomach and was traditionally used to heal gastrointestinal mucosa.
Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) An organic sulfur-containing compound that occurs naturally in fruits, vegetables, grains and in animals and humans in trace amounts. Because sulfur is needed for the formation of connective tissue, MSM has been studied for its use in treating arthritis. MSM is structurally essential for healthy cell membranes and building strong connective tissue, and appears to provide pain relief, particularly in arthritis, muscle repair, and immune benefits. Combined glucosamine and MSM therapy has been shown to be more effective and to work faster than the single agents in reducing pain and swelling and improving joint function.
Omega Fatty Acids
(food-source)
Omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids support healthy skin and coat, joints, cardiovascular and immune system function and protect against normal unseasonal or excessive shedding and hot spots.
Prebiotics Prebiotics are thought to help promote probiotic colonization and growth. These are oligosaccharides which are non-caloric compounds that can not be broken down by our digestive enzymes and therefore do not adversely affect blood sugar levels. Research has shown that prebiotics enhance the growth of lactic bacteria, especially Bifidobacteria, and inhibit the growth of a variety of undesirable organisms.
Probiotics (multistrain) Naturally occurring friendly bacteria that are integral to a healthy digestive system. They enhance health in several ways by assisting with food and nutrient assimilation, strengthening gut integrity and permeability, inhibiting harmful bacteria and viruses, and stimulating the immune system. Proper probiotic supplementation optimizes healthy immunity, normalizes gut imbalances, and replaces intestinal tract organisms lost to antibiotic use, disease, poor diet, stress and other factors. Feeding probiotics and non-digestible oligosaccharhides (prebiotics) in canines has shown positive effects on microflora balance, contributing to improved immune function and overall health of the dog.
Saccharomyces cerevisiae Nutritional yeast with no added cereal fillers, selected for ability to colonize and stimulate microbial growth in the canine intestinal tract. This strain is dried using a special proprietary process which helps maintain a high cell count. Nutritional yeast is known as a natural probiotic, it is also a very good source of essential amino acids and vitamins. Yeast is an excellent energy booster which helps to build the immune system and fight infection. It is beneficial for various conditions including eczema, heart disorders, gout, nervousness, fatigue and also for healthy skin and coat.
Stinging Nettles Contain a variety of vitamins and minerals, as well as a good supply of chlorophyll and complete protein.  It contains high levels of naturally occurring calcium.
Turmeric The curcuminoids found in standardized turmeric also inhibit COX-2 and LOX pathways, resulting in a well-established anti-inflammatory action. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, turmeric is used as an analgesic and to alleviate pain from injuries and wounds.
